Jets Release Davante Adams, Allow Lazard to Seek Trade

In two of the least surprising developments of their offseason, the Jets are releasing wide receiver Davante Adams while also allowing Allen Lazard to find a trade partner.

Davante Adams has been let go by the Jets as posted to their social media accounts.

Adams ends up being a wasted rental for eleven games in exchange for what turned out to be the 68th pick in this year’s draft.  The move got the fan base fired up for a week or two before the Jets were realistically out of playoff contention.  Some would argue they were out of it before the deal was even made.

In his short time with the Jets, Adams was a productive receiver in hauling in 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Allen Lazard has been given permission to seek a trade.  Lazard, who, despite struggling with drops yet again, had a solid season in scoring six touchdowns on 37 receptions.

With no proven pass catchers on the roster beyond Garrett Wilson, the Jets are reportedly willing to have Lazard return, but that remains to be seen.
