Any Jets fans holding out hope for a run to the playoffs that was never going to happen were reminded of one critical fact today. The New York Jets will always be the New York Jets.
Gang Green came out flat once again, looked uninspired once again, and got it handed to them once again. This time in the Arizona desert where the Cardinals toyed with the Jets in a 31-6 blowout.
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray looked like a first-ballot Hall of Famer while Aaron Rodgers looked more like Mister Rodgers.
Dinking and dunking his offense up and down the field despite a 20+ point deficit, Rodgers failed to complete a pass of greater than ten yards. His best friend and favorite target, Davante Adams, was shut out in the first half and averaged 5 yards per catch in the second half.
Coming off of what may have been the best game of his career last week, wide receiver Garrett Wilson managed just five receptions for 41 yards.
There was nothing the Jets could do right. They sat back and watched Murray set a new team record with 17 consecutive completions. He would finish 22-24 passing on the day.
Murray didn’t have to use his legs all that much, but still managed to find the end zone twice on the ground.
An ugly day that now becomes part of another ugly and lost season.
