Jets Trounce Texas as Offense Comes to Life in 21-13 Victory

It was a tale of two halves for Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets as Gang Green topped the Houston Texans 21-13.

After playing one of the worst halves of his career to start things off, going 7-14 with just 32 yards passing, Rodgers put up some video game numbers in half number two.

Rodgers would complete 15-18 passes for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns, one of which was one of the best you’ll ever see.  Wide receiver Garrett Wilson made a one-handed grab on a high pass in the back of the end zone that was originally ruled out of bounds.  On review, replay showed that Wilson got his shin down before his knee landed out of bounds.

That was his second touchdown grab of the day after he beat defensive back Jalen Pitre earlier in the half.  Rodgers’ third touchdown pass came to long-time teammate Davante Adams on a deep ball to make it a two score game at 21-10.

Oddly enough, the Jets second half production would not have been possible without a strong effort from their offensive line.  And as unlikely as it sounds, they got that effort with both starting guards out of the game.

Offensive tackles Max Mitchell and Olu Fashanu would come in and play left guard and right guard respectively and more than hold their own.

Aside from the aforementioned passing numbers from Rodgers, running back Breece Hall carried the ball fifteen times for 74 yards.  That gives Hall 3 games in the last 4 that we’ve seen him average at least 4.9 yards per carry.

Defensively the Jets dominated, picking up a total of eight sacks while holding CJ Stroud to 11 of 30 passing for just 191 yards.
