Lazard to IR as Jets Make Roster Moves Ahead of Kickoff

Allen Lazard

With kickoff just a few hours away, the New York Jets have made a several roster moves to get ready to take on the Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium.

Released TE Anthony Firkser: The veteran tight end has played just nine snaps in three games for the Jets with no real impact.

Placed WR Allen Lazard and DT Leki Fotu on IR: While drops have been an issue for Lazard this season, he has also been one of Aaron Rodgers top targets, leading the team with five touchdown receptions.  Fotu meanwhile, has been largely invisible since his return from IR just a few weeks ago.

Signed OL Alec Lindstrom and K Riley Patterson to the active roster: A Boston College product, Lindstrom has yet to take any NFL snaps but looks to serve as a depth piece on the interior offensive line.  Meanwhile, Patterson will take over kicking duties from the struggling Greg Zuerlein.

Elevated DB Kendall Sheffield and Jarius Monroe to active roster: With their safeties undermanned due to injury, the Jets add some pieces in the veteran Sheffield and undrafted free agent Monroe.

Activated TE Kenny Yeboah: Having missed all of this season up to now, the Jets third tight end will step on and take Firkser’s roster spot.

Signed DE Takk McKinley to the practice squad: Recently let go by the Jets to make room for Haason Reddick, McKinley returns to the practice squad.
