Rodgers: Time for Jets to “Make Peace” With Darkness at 2-6

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers, having just listened to head coach Jeff Ulbrich describe what is a time of “darkness” for his team, said he’s been there before, and “you gotta’ go in there and make peace” with it.

It sounded as if Rodgers is acknowledging what we all know.  The Jets season is over.

After losing 25-22 on the road to the Patriots, who are considered by many to be one of the least talented teams in the NFL, it’s time for the Jets to face reality.  Indeed…embrace the darkness.  This team, and it’s 2024 season, are done.

There’s no coming back from a record like this for a team that plays flat, uninspired and disorganized football.

Today’s flubs?  How about burning all three of their first half timeouts with a minute and a half remaining on the clock in the first quarter?  Delay of game penalties, a blown lead late in the game to a career journeyman in Jacoby Brissett, and this nugget from Rich Cimini; this Jets team is the first since 2012 that a team lost a game in which they had zero turnovers and allowed fewer than 250 yards of offense.

So now, a season that started with so much hope, ends as so many others have.  No playoffs, and Jets fans looking forward to the NFL draft before they’ve even had a chance to go trick or treating.
