Jets cut Ties With TE Brenden Bates; Firkser up Next?

Having seen enough of his struggles as a blocking tight end, the Jets have cut ties with tight end Brenden Bates.

The undrafted free agent who had a strong camp with the Chicago Bears was added by the Jets prior to the start of the season.  The idea was to have him serve as a blocking tight end but the results have been disastrous.

Despite having a reputation as a strong blocker in college, Bates has looked completely lost as a pro.

Look for Gang Green to add veteran tight end Anthony Firkser to the roster in his place.
