Jets Deal for Davante Adams, is it too Little too Late?
The 2-4 New York Jets made a blockbuster trade today in dealing for disgruntled Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams. To acquire Adams, the Jets agree to send a conditional pick to the Raiders.
The pick as of now would be a third-rounder but will become a second-round pick if Adams is either named first or second-team all-pro, or if the Jets make a run to the AFC Championship game with Adams on the roster.
The Adams addition will be a welcome one, but is it too late for a team that has dropped three consecutive games to fall to 2-4? Possibly not.
The Jets have had plenty of losing seasons for over a decade now but this isn’t those teams. This isn’t a team that’s getting blown out week after week with no obvious fix on the radar. This time, they’re a team that, with a bit more discipline, and another play or two in the red zone, could be among the NFL’s best.
Adams and Rodgers won’t be what they were many years ago in Green Bay, but don’t expect to see the miscommunication or errors we’ve seen with Rodgers and some of his other receivers this season.
The move will also take some heat off of Garrett Wilson which should open up the offense a bit more. The e sputtering red zone offense should also get a boost by adding one of the most prolific quarterback/wide receiver tandems of all time.
But is it a move that the team made a week too late? We’ll eventually find out.
