Aaron Rodgers Acknowledges Potential Hackett Demotion

It appears that there could indeed be more changes coming to 1 Jets Drive as Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers acknowledged the fact that a big move could be coming.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee show, Rodgers was asked about rumors swirling around his close friend and offensive coordinator Nate Hackett’s job security.   “There were going to have to be changes” said Rodgers, “regardless of what happened to Robert”.

The comments came as somewhat of a surprise given how strongly Rodgers has supported the failed OC since his arrival.  Rodgers went so far as to throw his support behind a potential Hackett demotion, saying he and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich have “talked a couple of times and I’m on board with whatever he decides as far as the offense goes”.

Passing game coordinator Todd Downing is believed to be the favorite to step on for Hackett given his experience as a play caller with the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and 2022.  Downing also called plays for the Raiders in 2017.

Rodgers also took a moment to deny having had any involvement in the decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh.  He also urged fans to show restraint in celebrating the firing as he discussed the human side of the decision.
