Jets-Bills Showdown: What to Watch for on October 14

One of the most compelling rivalries in the NFL is the New York Jets vs. the Buffalo Bills. On October 14th, these two rivals will clash yet again, creating an exciting opportunity for sports bettors. Let’s explore Jets vs. Bills predictions, team composition, strategies, and more.

According to the latest Bills Jets odds, the Bills are the favorites to win the AFC East division with odds of +175 at ESPN sportsbook. But the Jets aren’t far behind at +185, making this an intense, close match-up.

With their close geographical proximity, these two AFC East teams play against each other twice every season. Technically, the Jets play in New Jersey, which has only added fuel to the fire of the longstanding Jets vs. Bills rivalry, as some fans see the Bills as the only “true” New York team.

The upcoming match-up being predicted to be so close is unusual. Despite how intense the rivalry is, usually, these particular teams are not all that evenly matched during any given season.

Currently, the Jets show potential, thanks in large part to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. So, there is reason to be optimistic despite last season’s letdowns, many of which were tied to weaknesses in the quarterback position.

By 4:00 today, the Jets finished cutting their roster to 53 players. Earlier today, SNY NFL Insider Connor Hughes stated that the team will keep defensive players Braiden McGregor, Leonard Taylor, and Eric Watts. Those players are now confirmed to be staying on the roster.

Judging from preseason stats, defensive tackle Leonard Taylor and edge rusher Takk McKinley may play key roles, given their top-ranking pressure rates and the excellent depth they bring to the defensive line. Meanwhile, offensive tackles Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith both bring their veteran abilities to strengthen the Jets’ offensive line.

Adding even more strength to the offensive line is interior lineman Quinnen Williams, whose performance during the previous season was superlative.

How have the Jets and Bills fared against each other in the past? Last year, the Jets beat the Bills 22 to 16 in their September 11th game. But the Bills trounced the Jets on November 19th, beating them 32 to 6.

Overall, the Jets and Bills have faced off 127 times, once in the postseason. The Buffalo Bills tend to win more often than not; they have 69 wins, whereas the Jets have 58 wins.

What can the Jets do to give themselves the best chance of winning in the upcoming Jets Bills game? The Jets will need to be ready to counter the Bills’ quarterback, Josh Allen. The departure of wide receiver Stefon Diggs creates an experience gap around Allen, however, which the Jets should be able to exploit.

The Bills receiving group is still working itself out. Will Dalton Kincaid step up this week? The offensive line will also pose challenges, though Connor McGovern may be another weak point to target, given his rocky transition to center.
