Jets add Linebacker Brandon Smith, Part Ways With Jalen Key

Mr. Irrelevant is no longer a Jet as Gang Green has decided to part ways with rookie defensive back Jalen Key to make room for linebacker Brandon Smith. Selected with the final pick in the 2024 draft out of Alabama, Key lasts less than a quarter of a season with the Jets.

In Smith, the Jets bring on a former fourth-round pick of the Carolina Panthers out of Penn State where he logged 118 tackles (17 for loss) over his final two collegiate seasons.
As a pro, Smith has had little to no impact up to this point, appearing in fourteen games for the Panthers and Eagles, amassing just nine tackles.
The Jets also made the addition of Jalen Mills official which was reported yesterday.
