NFL Week 3; Will Carr Keep Cruising? Former Jet Ready for Takeoff?
With week three of the NFL season about to kick off, Jets fans have their feet up and breathing easy with Gang Green having already wrapped up a week three win. But there are other stories from around the league worth talking about.
Can Carr keep it up?
It’s only been two weeks, but it sure looks like the change the Saints made at offensive coordinator is paying off big time. With Klint Kubiak calling the plays, Derek Carr is completing 76.9% of his passes to go along with five TD passes and just one interception. Today he faces an Eagles team that has lost seven of their last nine games dating back to last season.
Moore Elijah in Cleveland:
Former Jets receiver Elijah Moore turned in a solid 2023 season with 640 yards but had only 3 receptions for nine yards. Week two saw a noticeable uptick as he jumped to six receptions for 44 yards. As Cleveland looks to get their offense going, will Moore and his numbers take off?
Bryce Huff watch:
The aforementioned Eagles handed former Jets edge rusher $17 million in cash this season to move to Philly. Through two games he has had limited reps and done nothing with the few opportunities he has had. Huff has 1 tackle on the season as his lone stat.
Reeling Ravens Need a win:
It wasn’t long ago that some folks were picking the Baltimore Ravens to go undefeated this season. In week three, they will essentially be fighting for their playoff lives after starting the season at 0-2.
Return of the Red Rifle: Andy Dalton is…erm, was, one of a handful of NFL backup quarterbacks who are better than the signal caller in front of them. With Bryce Young being sent to the bench, what can Carolina expect from Dalton? We’ll know by the end of today, but you can feel comfortable assuming he’ll be better than Young.
Sky falling for Miami?
With Tua Tagovailoa out for at least four weeks due to a concussion, the Dolphins turn to Skylar Thompson who has 1 touchdown pass and 3 interceptions in 8 games (2 starts). Will he be able to get the ball in the hands of Miami’s elite pass catchers?
Keep an eye on Kyler:
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray had what may have been his best day as a pro last week when he registered a perfect QB rating of 158.3. Murray was 17 for 21 for 266 yards and 3 touchdowns without an interception. Today he faces an aggressive Detroit Lions defense as the Cards look to get to 2-1.
