Bittersweet Victory; Jets win 24-17, JJ Lost for Season?
It was a bittersweet victory for the Jets as their 24-17 win was marred by what looks to be the loss of Jermaine Johnson for the remainder of the season. Johnson will have an MRI tomorrow to confirm what is believed to be a torn ACL.
After a sluggish start that had to have fans thinking of their week 1 blowout loss to the 49ers, Aaron Rodgers and the offense settled down and started to put up points as the defense finally got some pressure up front.
Rodgers would throw a pair of touchdowns, both of which went to running backs. The first was a 27-yard strike to Breece Hall down the right sideline and the other to rookie Braelon Allen. Allen would also find paydirt on the ground later in the game.
On defense, it was Will McDonald who stole the show, picking up a career high 3 sacks and was stopped from getting a fourth when he was mugg…err…held on the final play of regulation for the Titans.
Johnson wasn’t the only key defender missing on the day. Starting cornerback DJ Reed was inactive due to a knee injury and CJ Mosley missed most of the game with a toe injury. It sounded as if Mosley is expected to be ready for this week’s game on short rest.
Rodgers would finish the day 18-30 for 176 yards and the 2 touchdowns while Quincy Williams and Jamien Sherwood each tied for the team lead with nine tackles.
Filling in for Reed, Brandin Echols had the only Jets interception on the day.
