Joe Douglas Offers Details on Dire Haason Reddick Situation

Jets GM Joe Douglas met with the media today to talk Haason Reddick and the state of the team in general.

In the case of Reddick, things don’t look good at all.  There has been no progress of note since the start of the standoff.

Douglas said more times than we could count that he and the Jets “respect” Haason Reddick and his agent as he looks to keep things professional rather than air any dirty laundry in public.

What it all boiled down to was Douglas reiterating the fact that the Jets have no plans to trade Reddick and that “the ball is in their court”.  The Jets are playing hard ball and have plenty of fire power even without Reddick.

What else did Douglas have to say?

  • Douglas said he’s happy with the defensive line as a whole and feels good about the talent up front.
  • He feels the team is “ready to win” as the Jets hold the NFL’s longest playoff drought.
  • There was emphasis on the importance of the reps the Jets backup O-linemen got last year making them better players this year.
  • Asked what happed with safety Lewis Cine defecting to Buffalo and just said “change of heart”.

Head coach Robert Saleh  met with the media after Douglas and provided some updates as well.

Saleh said defensive tackle Leki Fotu’s injury is a hamstring that will require a few more weeks before he’s ready.  He also said cornerback Michael Carter is a full go at this point.

According to Saleh, the team had an intense practice today as they had another Green and White scrimmage type of session.  They’ll now have a three day break before picking things back up next week with preparation for week 1 getting under way.
