Jets Claim Tight End Brenden Bates off Waivers From Bears

With just two tight ends on their 53 man roster the Jets needed some depth and now they have it.  The team has reportedly claimed Brenden Bates off of waivers from the Chicago Bears.

A rookie out of Kentucky, Bates had six receptions for 100 yards this preseason according to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York.  More of a blocking tight end, Bates had just 272 career receiving yards in six seasons with the Wildcats.

To make rooom for Bates the Jets parted ways with wide receiver Jason Brownlee.
