Dennis Waszak of the Associated Press had an interesting nugget to share from a quote he gout out of Aaron Rodgers in regards to the level of preparation the Jets are going through this preseason.
While starters have spent the first two preseason games on the sidelines, practice has been a different story. According to Rodgers, Jets coaches say the team has run 300 more plays than they had at this point last year.
This is particularly important along the offensive line. Looking back to last season when the Jets used eleven different O-line combinations and fourteen players, continuity was essentially impossible. Head coach Robert Saleh lamented the lack of chemistry in the trenches last season.
With three new starters (four if you consider Alijah Vera-Tucker’s injury history), communication will be essential. Credit to Robert Saleh and his staff for ratcheting up the tempo to help make it happen.
