In an expected offseason move for the Jets, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Gang Green will be letting go of tight end CJ Uzomah.
It’s a cost cutting move that will save Joe Douglas
and company $5 million in cap space with free agency fast-approaching.After signing with the Jets two seasons ago, Uzomah was a visible personality and prominent locker room presence but unfortunately invisible on the field. He would log just 39 catches for 29 receptions for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns.
With Uzomah’s departure, it could open the door for Jeremy Ruckert to see more action or increase the possibility of Joe Douglas pursuing a tight end in the draft or free agency. Tyler Conklin remains atop the Jets depth chart for the moment.
Georgia tight end Brock Bowers would be a great addition with the tenth pick and was recently mocked to Gang Green in that spot by Mel Kiper of ESPN.
