Jets set to Part Ways With TE CJ Uzomah

In an expected offseason move for the Jets, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler is reporting that Gang Green will be letting go of tight end CJ Uzomah.

It’s a cost cutting move that will save Joe Douglas

and company $5 million in cap space with free agency fast-approaching.

After signing with the Jets two seasons ago, Uzomah was a visible personality and prominent locker room presence but unfortunately invisible on the field.  He would log just 39 catches for 29 receptions for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns.

With Uzomah’s departure, it could open the door for Jeremy Ruckert to see more action or increase the possibility of Joe Douglas pursuing a tight end in the draft or free agency.  Tyler Conklin remains atop the Jets depth chart for the moment.

Georgia tight end Brock Bowers would be a great addition with the tenth pick and was recently mocked to Gang Green in that spot by Mel Kiper of ESPN.
