A report from the Deseret news out of Utah claims that the New York Jets have let quarterback Zach Wilson know that the team will look to trade him this offseason.
Looking to trade Wilson should come as no surprise given his tumultuous time in Green and White. The question the Jets will face this offseason is what any potential suitors would be willing to offer. Given his struggles, it’s hard to see more than a handful of teams showing any interest at all. However, Wilson’s ceiling and the Jets long history of not being able to develop quarterbacks could pique somebody’s interest.
Through three seasons with Gang Green, Wilson looks nothing like the player he was at BYU. A quick decision-maker with pinpoint accuracy in college, Wilson has devolved into a quarterback who holds on to the football for far too long, takes too many unnecessary sacks and appears unwilling to throw the ball down the field.
What other teams will wonder however, is whether or not Wilson’s struggles are entirely down to his ability, or if the Jets coaching and atrocious supporting staff played a bigger role than some may be willing to acknowledge.
