Jets Deactivate Allen Lazard as Poor Play Becomes too Much

The New York Jets have apparently had enough of Allen Lazard and his seemingly endless case of the drops as the teamβs number two wide receiver this season. Connor Hughes of SNY reported before tonightβs game against the Miami Dolphins that Lazard would be a healthy scratch.
This doesnβt rule out the possibility of the Jets publicly giving Lazard a pass and claiming some other reason for his being sent to the bench, but this was a move that was way overdue. Lazard has been one of the NFLβs worst receivers this year, dropping 17% of his targets from quarterback Zach Wilson.
Hoping Tim Boyle will have a fighting chance against Miami, the Jets went the βaddition by subtractionβ route and sat Lazard.
Having signed a deal worth $44 million this offseason, Lazard has easily been the biggest disappointment on the Jets roster and still has three years left on his deal, although surviving the next three years seems highly unlikely.
