Welcome to the JetNation NFL Power Rankings for Week Seven of the 2023 season! We’ve got some big shake-ups in the rankings this week, with the Chiefs reclaiming their throne and the NY Jets making an unexpected entry. Dive in as we break down the top 10 teams and see who’s soaring and who’s stumbling in their quest for NFL supremacy.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
Last Week: 3
The Chiefs continue to hear doubts all while they pile up wins and barrel toward another division crown and home-field advantage. The Chiefs don’t score like they did in recent years, but they don’t need to because they play much better defense than in recent years.
2. Miami Dolphins (5-1)
Last Week: 4
The Dolphins are setting offensive records on a weekly basis. They now sit on top of their division and have a chance this week at Philadelphia to prove they belong as an elite contender.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (5-1)
Last Week: 1
The Eagles offense was throttled by the NY Jets defense. They should have been able to take advantage of the injuries in the Jet secondary. That failure needs to be addressed for the Eagles to repeat as NFC champs.
4. San Francisco 49ers (5-1)
Last Week: 2
There’s little more important than health in the NFL. The Niners need a quick recovery from their injured stars to stay on top in the conference.
5. Detroit Lions (5-1)
Last Week: 5
The Lions are sitting pretty in the NFC as the Eagles and Niners are battered by stronger opposition. It could mean home-field for Detroit in the playoffs.
6. Dallas Cowboys (4-2)
Last Week: 7
Dallas takes a lot of heat, even in winning weeks. The Chargers are a tough spot on the calendar, especially on the road. The Cowboys get the other Los Angeles team this week, followed by a showdown with Philadelphia. At that point, we will know if the Cowboys are going to be a factor.
7. Buffalo Bills (4-2)
Last Week: 6
The Bills were hardly impressive on Sunday. It seems like Buffalo is slipping from the league’s elite teams.
8. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-2)
Last Week: Unranked
The Jags are getting closer to the form that landed them in the playoffs last season. They should begin to separate in the division now and become a team to worry about in the AFC.
9. Baltimore Ravens (4-2)
Last Week: Unranked
Alternating wins and losses isn’t going to get it done. The Ravens need a statement win and a string of wins to follow that and could start it Sunday against Detroit.
10. New York Jets (3-3)
Last Week: Unranked
The Jets have wins against the Bills and now the Eagles on their resume. Their defense will hold them close each week. Winning for the Jets comes down to how much they can get from their timid quarterback.
