New York Jets Week 3 Inactive List vs Patriots; Brown to IR Creates OL Shuffle, Adams Out in Secondary

Coming off an ugly loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2, the 1-1 Jets head back home to host the 0-2 Patriots. After two rough outings, LT Duane Brown popped up on the injury report with a reported hip injury. Despite having confidence that Brown would play on Sunday, or perhaps some gamesmanship from head coach Robert Saleh, Brown was placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday afternoon, leaving New York to find a new left tackle for at least the next four games. Speculation from the beat think it will be veteran Billy Turner who is inserted as Zach Wilson’s new blindside protector, but the offense could shift Alijah Vera-Tucker or Mekhi Becton to that spot with a more long-term approach in mind. Backup OL Wes Schweitzer suffered a concussion in practice during the week, so he is also out for this game. New York elevated Chris Glaser from the practice squad as insurance depth.

Defensively, second year safety Tony Adams is out with a hamstring injury that he sustained during the Cowboys game. The team did not promote Trey Dean III from the practice squad, so the backups Adrian Amos and Ashtyn Davis will be heavily involved on both defense and special teams. Nickel cornerback Michael Carter II was nursing an elbow injury throughout the week, but he will play today. LB Quincy Williams will also play after a knee injury last week.

Kicker Greg Zuerlein is back and ready to go after missing last week’s game with a groin injury. Here is the full list of inactive players for the Jets:

  • OL Wes Schweitzer
  • S Tony Adams
  • RB Israel Abanikanda
  • WR Jason Brownlee
  • LB Zaire Barnes
  • CB Bryce Hall
