A second undrafted rookie wide receiver appears to have made the Jets initial 53 man roster as Xavier Gipson is in. It’s unofficial at this point, but Gipson himself reposted a message from one member of X who said Gipson had made the Jets 53 man roster.
The user, whose screen name is Coach Law posted “Couldn’t’ be happier to hear @Gipson22x made the active 53!!!! Welcome to the NFL Xavier!” which Gipson shared with his followers.
Gipson joins Jason Brownlee who shared with his followers on facebook yesterday that he had managed to make the team’s initial 53 as well.
A slot receiver and return man, Gipson has made waves all offseason. At one point both he and Brownlee earned the praise of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Now the pair start the season on the 53 man roster holding their breath as the Jets keep an eye on the waiver wire for possible additions.
Considered by many as a player “on the bubble” entering the final preseason game of the year against the Giants, Gipson made a statement by leading the team in receptions and yards with 7 for 79 yards.
