Jets Snag Explosive Running Back in Pitt’s Abanikanda
The name of the game in today’s NFL is “explosive” which could be a synonym for the name Israel Abanikanda who the Jets just picked up in the NFL draft.
Earlier today we listed Abanikanda as the number one name for fans to be familiar with as day 3 got under way.

The Pittsburgh product joins teammate Carter Warren as the two newest Jets and gives Gang Green a legitimate home run threat from anywhere on the field when he touches the ball. Last season with the Panthers, Abanikanda ran for over 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns in his final collegiate season.
Abanikanda wasn’t used a great deal in the passing game but did show the ability to catch the ball when given the opportunity to do so.
Israel Abanikanda is more than just a guy who hits the hole and goes. Can run inside, outside and make plays after the catch. Not an easy guy for opposing defenses to bring down. pic.twitter.com/y6EgS60gDF

Even with Breece Hall expected back for week 1 this season, there’s no knowing how effective he’ll be after his injury. By making this pick, the Jets assure themselves of an impact ball carrier until Hall is a full go. With both at full strength, their offense could be special.
