For those waiting for even the tiniest morsel of news in regards to Aaron Rodgers eventually becoming a New York Jet, former Gang Green QB Boomer Esiason of WFAN radio has an update; “It’s gonna’ happen, and it will happen relatively soon” said Esiason. The ex-signal caller predicted the trade would go down before the NFL draft next week.
Esiason obviously didn’t say where he got the news from, but it’s clear he has a tremendous amount of respect for Jets GM Joe Douglas, with whom he appeared on stage at a fan event earlier this month. It was at that point that Douglas told the crowd that Rodgers was in fact “coming” to the Jets.
Esiason isn’t the first person to suggest a deal will be done before the draft, either. NFL insider Albert Breer said the same right here just a couple of weeks ago.
Rumors have been swirling as it pertains to what compensation the Jets would be sending to Green Bay with some suggesting the Packers are insisting on an unconditional first-round choice next season, a request that has reportedly been shot down by owner Woody Johnson.
