A six-year veteran who has spent three seasons with both the Falcons and Commanders, Schweitzer gives the Jets an established and versatile veteran on the inside. Through his six seasons, Schweitzer has played a couple of snaps at offensive tackle in a pinch, but otherwise has played center and both guard spots.
Durability will be something to keep an eye on as the former San Jose product missed significant time last season due to concussion protocol and missed the final six games of the 2021 season with an ankle injury. Prior to that, the lineman appeared in at least 15 games through his first four seasons before missing a handful of contests in 2021.
Expect Schweitzer to step in to Dan Feeney’s old spot as the team’s primary backup center after Feeney came to terms with the Miami Dolphins.
