When news broke of the Las Vegas Raiders officially cutting ties with Derek Carr, we’d said the team shouldn’t waste any time in trying to get the quarterback under contract. Soon thereafter, the team met with Carr in New Jersey and it appears the meeting was more than simply “due diligence”.
According to Dianna Russini of ESPN, the Jets are “really interested” in Carr with sources offering nothing but positive reviews on the meetings. This concurs with Carr’s older brother David, who said earlier that Derek and Jets head coach Robert Saleh “really hit it off”.
So while a move may not happen in the immediate future while Carr continues to meet with teams and the Jets wait to find out if Aaron Rodgers will be available in the coming days and weeks.
Rodgers is believed to be the top choice of owner Woody Johnson with Carr being high on the team’s list of priorities as well.
