Don’t look now Jets fans, but it seems your favorite NFL team, and specifically their defensive line…has arrived. After years of forgetful football, the Jets are finally fielding a winning product. And while contributions are coming from all corners of the roster, it’s the defensive line that got it done today.
Led by Quinnen Williams, who is having an All-Pro type of season, the Jets sacked Aaron Rodgers four times (twice for Williams) while harassing the Green Bay QB all day.
Williams hit Rodgers a total of seven times and was a key in shutting down a Packers run game that picked up just 60 yards on 20 carries.
Jets cornerbacks Sauce Gardner, DJ Reed and Michael Carter II made the Packers a one-dimensional team by clamping down on a shaky Packers receiving corps all day. Then the front seven dominated at the point of attack and took away the run game.
The Jets, meanwhile, saw another monster game from Rookie running back Breece Hall who picked up 116 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
It may not have been exactly what the Jets had envisioned as Zach Wilson struggled, throwing for just 110 yards and no touchdowns. But being at 4-2 couldn’t be better news as the Jets prepare to take on Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
