NY Jets Injury Report (Wed)
On Wednesday the first NY Jets injury report of the year was released. Ahead of the week one matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, Zach Wilson and Duane Brown did not practice. We know that Zach won’t return until week 4, but Brown missing time is a concern. OT George Fant (knee), CB Justin Hardee (calf), OL Conor McDermott (ankle), CB D.J. Reed (knee) were all limited. With Fant limited and Brown not practicing the starting offensive line spent very little time together this preseason. McDermott, the backup offensive tackle, being limited definitely means all eyes will be on the tackle position when practice starts today.
DJ Reed was back on the field on Wednesday according to Robert Saleh.
Robert Saleh did give an update on the thought process that went into holding Zach Wilson out until week four.
No, to be honest with you guys, I’m just going to lay this out. I really don’t want to talk about the situation anymore. The earliest he is going to be available is Pittsburgh. That’s going to be the earliest, just from everything we gathered over the last couple of days. Now, could it change? Sure, I’m always going to leave that door open. You guys know me, I’m the eternal optimist. We’re going to make sure that both mind and body are 110% and make sure we do right by him. We feel like, talking to the doctors and everyone, it’s going to be that Pittsburgh week.
Saleh also said they didn’t want to put him on short term I.R. because they want Wilson to be able to practice as soon as he is ready.
This week, he’s going to be off to the side with the trainers. Then, we will slowly, as a part of his rehab schedule, start implementing him back into practice over the next couple of weeks.
