Report: Wilson has Bone Bruise, Ligaments in Tact

Breath a sigh of relief, Jets fans.  Jeff Howe of the Athletic is reporting that quarterback Zach Wilson’s injury isn’t as bad as previously thought.

According to Howe, Wilson suffered a bone bruise and that all ligaments are in tact.  Howe says there may be some meniscus damage and that a timeline for return is pending.

This would obviously be light years better than what many feared last night would be a torn ACL which would have ended Wilson’s season.

Wilson injured himself during his second drive of the pre-season as he scrambled to escape pressure.  Head coach Robert Saleh seemed less than thrilled with Wilson opting not to run out of bounds on the play.  When asked by reporters if Wilson should have run out, Saleh simply responded “one hundred percent”.

If Wilson has to miss time, expect the Jets to go with veteran Joe Flacco who threw for 291 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his only start of the 2021 season.
