Jets Sign Free Agent Defensive Lineman Solomon Thomas to one-year Deal; Retain Kicker Pinero

Brian Costello of the New York Post is reporting that the Jets have signed veteran defensive lineman Solomon Thomas to a one-year deal as Gang Green looks to beef up a thinned out defensive line.

Thomas, a five-year veteran who played with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 also played under Jets head coach Robert Saleh in San Francisco as a member of the 49ers from 2017-2020.  Selected by the 49ers in the first-round of the 2017 draft, Thomas has seen his role reduced from full-time starter in  his first two seasons to rotational depth piece in the years that have followed.

He registered a career high 3.5 sacks last season in 17 games (zero starts).

Thomas adds veteran depth to a defensive line in dire need of bodies.

In other news, the Jets agreed to terms with place kicker Eddie Piñero on a one-year contract.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, the deal is worth up to $2.75 million.
