Did Joe Douglas tip off who Jets are Taking With Second Overall Pick?
Joe Douglas looked like the cat that ate the canary. Sitting down for a zoom press conference with Jets beat writers, Douglas was asked about a recent quote from Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young who said that Douglas and the Jets were already committed to BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the second pick in the draft.
What did Joe Douglas think when ESPN analyst/Hall of Fame QB Steve Young reported the Jets are "committed" to taking BYU QB Zach Wilson at No. 2?
Said the Jets GM: “Steve's plugged in to BYU pretty well. …”

When prodded with Young’s quote by Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, Douglas quickly glanced away from the camera, shook off a quick smirk and simply said “Steve’s plugged in to BYU pretty well” before getting back on script and speaking in general terms about what a great job BYU did of setting up their pro day. It was a brief moment of surprise that was quickly followed up with typical GM speak.
Douglas said there’s still work to be done in evaluating a QB class that the Jets are high on, but Vegas likes Wilson to the Jets and it looks like Joe Douglas might agree.
