Jets Officially Franchise tag Marcus Maye
With free agency fast approaching, the Jets have locked up safety Marcus Maye by hitting him with the franchise tag which is projected to come it at $10.5 million.
Re Maye: The franchise tag for a safety will be roughly $10.5M, lower than many projections. The salary cap still hasn’t been set, so the amount could fluctuate. Now the two sides have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term deal. If not, Maye plays for the tag amount. #Jets

Having become a stellar defender on the back end of the secondary, Maye being franchise tagged was viewed as an inevitable. With the tag appplied, the team will now have several months to work out a long-term deal.
