Report: Watson Prefers Jets Over Dolphins if Dealt
Things appear to be heating up on the Deshaun Watson front as it pertains to the Jets having an opportunity to acquire the superstar quarterback from the maligned Houston Texans.
According to NFL insider Armando Salguero, Watson is currently willing to waive his no-trade clause to make a deal happen with two teams; one being the Jets who top the short list, and the other being the Miami Dolphins.

The Texans upset their quarterback several weeks ago when they reportedly told him that they wanted him to be included in the team’s new search for a general manager and head coach. Watson was on board with offering his two cents and asked that the Texans interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and San Francisco 49ers head coach Robert Saleh. The Texans initially requested neither coach before adding Bieniemy to their interview list. The team never engaged with Saleh, who was then hired by the Jets. Clearly a factor in Watson’s interest in Gang Green.
It is believed that any deal for Watson will require as many as three first-round draft choices, something the Jets can make happen given the two first-round picks they received for pass-rushing safety Jamal Adams at the start of the 2020 season.
