Jets Get Ready for Jamal; Darnold Looks to Avoid Another Loss
As the winless New York Jets prepare to face former star safety Jamal Adams and the Seattle Seahawks, a large portion of fans will be wishing Adams’ new team well as the Jets are four losses away from locking up the NFL draft’s number one pick. Fans and front offices may be hoping for another loss, but the players will be playing to win. Where are the key matchups today?
Jets Secondary vs WR DK Metcalf:
You can pick just one defensive back to focus on in this one as Metcalf is a mismatch for any player (or any two players) the Jets deploy to slow him down. There’s every reason to expect Metcalf to top 150 yards with at least a couple of scores.
QB Sam Darnold vs S Jamal Adams:
Adams is going to want some payback after the Jets sent him packing to the Seahawks in exchange for a pair of first round picks in place of giving him a huge new contract and Darnold will be his primary target. Part of Sam Darnold’s struggles this season has been a lack of awareness in the pocket. With Adams likely being sent from the back side, Darnold will have to evade pressure or get rid of the ball in a hurry. If he holds on too long, Adams will be there to pick up a few sacks.
C Connor McGovern vs ILB Bobby Wagner:
Wagner, one of the league’s elite inside linebackers and McGovern will have to account for him as the Jets will be going with backup linemen at both guard spots. McGovern, the savvy veteran, has played much better of late and will be a key factor in determining just how much time Sam Darnold has when he drops back to throw.
Prediction:
This one should get out of control early on with the Seahawks winning in a blowout. We’re going to go with Seattle in a 42-6 contest.
