Just when you thought the Jets couldn’t get any thinner in the offensive weapons department, the team placed running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Denzel Mims on injured reserve along with linebacker Blake Cashman.
The move comes after Bell came up grabbing his hamstring in the first half of the Jets season-opening loss to the Buffalo Bills before he was put back in the game by head coach Adam Gase who said after the game the he regretted the decision.
The move leaves the Jets with Frank Gore, Josh Adams and newly signed Kalen Ballage as their top three running backs. After losing Mims, the cupboard is also bare at the wide receiver position.
Meanwhile on defense, Blake Cashman was pulled after just three plays on Sunday with a hamstring injury and is now also on injured reserve. The move should result in the team bringing back recently released James Burgess.
