Jets offensive lineman Leo Koloamatangi is reportedly the Jets first player to announce he will be sitting out the 2020 season due to concerns over COVID-19.
Koloamatangi didn’t see any action in 2020 but was on the active roster for the season’s final seven weeks and likely had a shot to compete for a backup job this season. In our recent 90-man-roster breakdown, we cited his agility and work as a run blocker as reasons why he would have had a chacne to stick with the Jets.
After getting so close to seeing the field last season, this could not have been an easy decision for the big Hawaiian who reportedly did some work in his local community to assist with the outbreak of the virus.
No word on who will take his roster spot at this time.
