In a move that comes as no surprise, the Jets have exercised their fifth-year option on All-Pro safety Jamal Adams while in the early stages of what could be a complex contract re-negotiation.
Jets GM Joe Douglas has been consistently peppered with questions regarding Adams’ long-term future with the team. Douglas has expressed a desire to retain Adams for years to come, but reports have surfaced claiming the Jets have made no official offer to Adams. As a result, Adams is reportedly planning to skip the voluntary portion of the Jets offseason.
There was specuation leading up to the draft that the Jets would shop Adams in an effort to acquire more picks but nothing of the sort took place.
