In a season that hasn’t seen the new York Jets have a whole lot go their way, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams may very well be licking his chops as his unit looks to take on a Pittsburgh Steelers team whose rookie quarterback is having a rough time of it just as Gang Green looks to bounce back from an embarassing Thursday night loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
According to Kristian Dyer of Sports Illustrated, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin is expecting Gregg Williams to go after his rookie quarterback, Delvin “Duck” Hodges, with everything he’s got (more on that here) and that’s probably the case. This is even more likley now that the Jets will look to get two-time pro bowl safety Jamal Adams and defensive lineman Quinnen williams back from ankle and neck injuries respectively.
Adams will undoubtedly be used to get after the rookie quarterback who threw four interceptions agains the Bills last week, and fans will have a close eye on Williams who showed flashes of dominance the last time he played againt the Dolphins over a week ago but had to leave the game with a neck injury.
With the pressure the Bills applied to Hodges last Sunday, he tossed four interceptions while averaging just over 5 yards per attempt in going 23 of 38 for 202 yards.
WIlliams and his defense will be coming, meaning that despite the disparity in overall talent, this Jets team has a chance to string a pair of wins togehter as they attempt to finish strong moving in to this off-season.
