Jets GM Mike Maccagnan was non-committal following the NFL draft when he was asked about whether or not the Jets planned on exercising the team’s fifth-year option on linebacker Darron Lee, but now we have our answer and it comes as little surprise that the Jets won’t be picking it up.
All signs pointed to a Lee departure when the Jets paid big bucks to add linebacker CJ Mosley in free agency. Should the Jets retain Lee this season, and there are a few reasons why they should, he could wind up landing the Jets a comp pick should he depart via free agency.
