Jets Land Alabama’s Quinnen Williams With Third Overall Pick
The pick is in and the Jets didn’t overthink it as Gang Green snagged Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams with the third overall choice in the draft.
Viewed by many as the draft’s best player, Williams was there for the taking when the Cardinals drafted quarterback Kyler Murray and the 49ers took coveted edge rusher Joey Bosa. This left Mike Maccagnan and company free to snag the 6′ 3” 303 lb Williams.
NFL Beat writer Bob McGinn polled 14 NFL execs on their best player in this draft:
6 – Quinnen Williams
3 – Nick Bosa
2 – Kyler Murray
1 – Josh Allen
1 – Dwayne Haskins
1 – Jeffery Simmons— uSTADIUM (@uSTADIUM) April 20, 2019
A physical freak, Williams will join Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson on a defensive front that now has the potential to be among the best in the NFL. After finishing the 2018 season with 8 sacks and 19 tackles for loss, Williams cemented himself as a top three selection.
