Jets Place Rishard Matthews on Injured Reserve; Claim OT From Pats Practice Squad
Rishard Matthews’ underwhelming season with the Jets came to an abrupt close when the team was forced to place the receiver on injured reserve after injuring his hamstring in Saturday’s 29-22 loss to the Houston Texans.

Matthews joined the Jets as a free agent earlier this season, but spent the majority of his time on the bench. He had just two receptions for 13 yards.
To replace Matthews, the Jets signed offensive tackle Eric Smith from the New England Patriots practice squad. Smith, a 6′ 4” 308 pound Virginia product, has spent time on the Dolphins and Patriots practice squads before joining the Jets.
