Jets Fans Ready to Move on From Bowles; Does Ownership Agree?

Chris Johnson JN

Some time over the course of the next several hours, Jets fans should learn the fate of Head Coach Todd Bowles whose team was walloped 41-10 yesterday by Matt Barkley and the mighty Buffalo Bills, who had a total of three touchdown passes on the season entering yesterday’s game.  For those fans who hadn’t had enough of Todd Bowles following last week’s, 13-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins, it appears yesterday’s game was the tipping point.

According to a JetNaton.com fan poll, a staggering 97% of Jets fans were ready to move on from a head coach who, after starting his first season 10-5, has gone just 13-30 since.

Fans being ready to move on from a head coach is one thing, but what matters most is how ownership sees the situation, and with Bowles prepared to meet with Chris Johnson this morning, we should have an answer sooner rather than later.

If Johnson opts to keep Bowles on board through the bye to face the New England Patriots, he will have missed the perfect opportunity to allow for  a smoother transition for whoever would step in for Bowles.  Currently, the front-runners would have to be wide receivers coach Karl Dorrell who has college head coaching experience (UCLA) as well as NFL offensive coordinator and QB coach experience.

Offensive line coach Rick Dennison would be another option, or tight ends coach Mike Caldwell who wears the “assistant head coach” title under Bowles.
