In what could be a case of “better late than never”, the New York Jets are reportedly showing some interest in free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland according to Josina Anderson.
Back in May, JetNation.com compiled a list of three remaining free agents who could still help Gang Green and that list was topped by Breeland who has had an odd off-season. As one of the better cornerbacks on the free agent market, Breeland quickly singed a deal with the Carolina Panthers that was nullified when he failed a physical due to a foot infection.
Since then, Breeland has visited with several teams but has come away without a deal. According to Anderson, the Jets are interested, but have yet to schedule a visit.
Breeland is a 26 year-old corner whose presence could legitimately give the Jets an upper-echelon group that would easily be the best secondary the team has had under head coach Todd Bowles.
Definitely a story worth keeping an eye on.
