NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that Jets wide receiver ArDarius Stewart will open the 2018 season with a 2 game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancers.
In a bit of a twist, Stewart’s suspension may end up benefiting him in the long run.
As the team’s roster is currently constructed, Stewart is sixth on the team’s depth chart behind Robby Anderson, Quincy Enunwa, Jermaine Kearse, Terrelle Pryor and Chad Hansen. With the two-game suspension, Stewart won’t count against the Jets’ 53-man roster to open up the season, meaning the team can wait to see how things play out with the receivers at the top of the depth chart before making a decision on Stewart.
