It's time for Bryce Petty to be taken seriously as a contender for the Jets starting QB job.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that the New York Jets have released quarterback Bryce Petty. The former Baylor Bear was after a two-year run in Green and White.
During the 2016 season, Petty threw for 809 yards, 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions to go along with a 56% completion percentage on 133 attempts in six appearances (4 starts). Petty would regress in the 2017 season, as the former 4th round pick appeared in 4 games, throwing just 1 touchdown to 3 interceptions, with a 49% completion percentage.
Following the release of Petty, many are left wondering if the Jets will keep Christian Hackenberg for the 2018-2019 season, or if his number will be up soon as well.
