The New York Jets have exercised the options on a pair of key defensive players for the 2018 season.
Underrated defensive lineman Steve McLendon and outside linebacker/special teams ace Josh Martin both had their options picked up by Gang Green. We mentioned just a few days ago that both moves would make sense, but McLendon’s return was a no brainer as one of the better defensive players on the roster even if his work goes unnoticed.
Martin started a career-high 9 games, registering 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Meanwhile, McLendon posted a career-high of his own with 46 tackles as a versatile member of the Jets D-line.
