The Jets got a bit of good news yesterday when they learned that charges against outside linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin have been dropped.
Mauldin was facing charges for assault when a Queens club-goer claimed he was assaulted by the linebacker after spilling champagne on him during an evening out this off-season. He took to twitter to thank those who backed him, and he is now looking forward to getting back to football.
In place of Mauldin, the Jets have used multiple linebackers in his spot, including Josh Martin, David Bass and Freddie Bishop with varying degrees of success.
Exactly where Mauldin is in terms of his recovery from a back injury that has kept him out all season is an unknown. The team has said very little about the third-year player since he was placed on short-term IR at the outset of the season.
