The Jets have reportedly placed linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin on short-term injured reserve as a result of a back injury that he’s dealt with for the duration of training camp.
As noted above by NJ.com’s Darryl Slater, Mauldin can return to the team after week 8, and will be eligible to practice two weeks before that.
In all reality, this was a best case scenario for Mauldin who may get a chance to win back his starting job if Josh Martin and/or Dylan Donahue fail to perform in his place.
Taking Mauldin’s roster spot will be linebacker Bruce Carter, who probably hadn’t even started packing his bags after being let go yesterday.
