Jets add Safety Shamarko Thomas

By Glenn Naughton

Down a safety after trading Calvin Pryor to the Cleveland Browns, the New York Jets have added another veteran at the position by inking former Steelers safety Shamarko Thomas.

A Syracuse product who was chosen in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft, Thomas has amassed 30 tackles in 48 career games as a backup and special teams player, a role he would fill with Gang Green should he manage to make the roster.

To make room for Thomas, the Jets cut recently signed linebacker Jevaris Jones.
