Still looking to add depth along the offensive line, specifically at the center position where Wesley Johnson is pencilled in as the team’s starter, the Jets have claimed former 49ers offensive lineman Alex Balducci off of waivers.
With Johnson under contract for the 2017 season and the signing of free agent lineman Jonotthan Harrison who has experience at center, Balducci becomes the third (or fourth if you consider Dakota Dozier) lineman on the Jets roster with experience at the center position.
Balducci played under Chip Kelly who was his coach at the University of Oregon when he was a defensive lineman before being shifted to the O-line in the pro’s. Balducci spent the majority of last season on the practice squad before being elevated late in the season, appearing in two games for a total of 3 snaps.
