Inactives Report: Mangold Back, Devin Smith Still Out
Starting lineup changes:
S @RontezMiles for Pryor
OLB @MikeCatapano77 for McLendon pic.twitter.com/kRwlq3W0oq— New York Jets (@nyjets) December 6, 2016
Nick Mangold will start for the first time in four games. The offensive line likely missed Mangold’s leadership, and it should be a bonus for the line tonight. Meanwhile, Devin Smith who was recently activated off the PUP list still remains on the inactives list. It’s possible Smith could remain out for the rest of the season, he was listed on the injury report with an illness. Calvin Pryor and Steve McLendon are also out tonight. Rontez Miles will fill in for Pryor while Mike Catapano will step in for McLendon.
Other inactives include: Christian Hackenberg, Lorenzo Mauldin, Dakota Dozier, and Jalin Marshall
While it’s highly likely that Bryce Petty will see the field again at some point this season, Hackenberg won’t get a chance until next season. The rookie still has a ways to go until he’s ready for a regular season start.
Lorenzo Mauldin was listed as doubtful for today’s game with an ankle injury. The second year linebacker has showed flashes at times, but needs to be more consistent to gain a full time starting spot.
Jalin Marshall is out with a concussion, but with all of the fumbles he’s given up this season, the Jets might be better off.
Dakota Dozier is on the inactives report again, and will likely remain there for the season.
The Jets are all but eliminated from the playoffs, even on the off chance that they ran the table, they would have a less than 1% chance of making the postseason. If the Jets lose this game, it should be Bryce Petty time for gang green.
